Can I play for a Division III school?

Ok, so I am a female senior in high school. My freshman year, I played basketball, but towards the end of the season, I broke my right ankle, so I stopped playing. Towards the end of my junior year, I took up an interest in throwing field events such as the hammer, javelin, etc. I went on a college visit to a Division III school, and me and my friend went to go talk to the track & field coach. He encourages us to fill out the Recruit form found on their website. I told him about my whole ankle ssituation, and that I've taken up an interst in throwing, but dont have any formal experience with any kind of team. Is it possible for me to still throw at this D-3 school? even though ive had no formal experience? on the recruit for, it asks for my coach's info and my best performances, but I dont have any of that?
