A Sims 3 Late Night Problem?

I just bought the expansion today and now that it's installed it says it isn't compatible with my Original game and that I should update The Base Game through the Launcher. Problem is the Launcher says it is up to date. I've uninstalled and re-installed and every time it says "Sims 3 Updater has stopped working. It will update late night but not the Base Game. Need Help
