Ex wife with masters degree won't find work?

After 26 years of marriage my wife and I are divorcing. She has a master's degree in computer science but has not worked in 17 years. She is in perfect health, intelligent and personable. She tells the divorce mediator that the only job she can find is a $15/hour part time clerk position with no benefits. She wants me to provide support for the rest of her life. We live in silicone valley and there a lots of examples of women who have gone back to lucrative jobs after raising their kids. I think this is not fair what can I do? I want to get on with my life.
