I was just diagnosed with genital HSV-1 17 days ago and I need some advice!!!!?

I have previously asked a question and did not get much feedback but I sure would like some advice from people that has been living with this dreadful virus!! I did get this through with my husband of 20 years. We were very lucky and blessed for many years. I guess we both were stupid and did not know this could happen. My doctor put me on Valtrex 4 days after I started the virus because I thought I had a staph infection and so did my PA were I did cut myself with a razor. Anyway, It being my first time the symptoms have been horrible and it did start clearing up around the 5th day of therapy and all was going well and I was sure I was almost over it. I was given a 10 day supply of Valtrex and when I completed it all was good. Now the rawness has came back with a vengeance and my doctor has continued my Valtrex. The soreness from my lymph nodes has never left. How long does this go on. I miss making love to my husband and it is getting me down. Is it typical for the lst time to last this long. My doctor thought that 10 days of therapy with Valtrex should have cleared it up. What helps with the rawness? God Bless each and everyone of you guys that suffer thru this. I know things could be worse but this is just so aggravating. I need some advice and I do appreciate anyone that will take the time to read this and answer. Thanks so much!!!
