Do you have to wear a tennis uniform to compete in USTA tournaments or can you just wear street clothes?

I just joined and haven't been made aware if tennis uniforms are mandatory or not. I'm wanting to sign up for a tournament soon, but I'm not sure if I need to get a uniform first or not. I live in Indiana if that makes a difference.
