? about cancer?

Hi everyone. My dad has been taking chemo for quite a while now and he had some tests done a few weeks ago to check and see if the treatments are working...the doctors said that they didn't detect anymore cancer (hooray!) but that he has to finish out his treatments until the end of April. Why is that? Just more precautionary stuff?
